A Frost Advisory is in effect for the Spokane and Moses Lake areas as overnight temperatures are forecast to fall as low as 33 degrees.
The National Weather Service office in Spokane issued the advisory, warning that frost could form across the region from midnight tonight through 9 a.m. PDT Monday.
Where the Frost Advisory Applies
The advisory covers the Coeur d’Alene Area, the Moses Lake Area, the Upper Columbia Basin and the Spokane Area.
Cities included are Davenport, Spokane Valley, Harrington, Wilbur, Rockford, Spokane, Moses Lake, Odessa, Creston and Cheney.
Cold Enough to Kill Sensitive Plants
Forecasters say the frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Plants left uncovered overnight may not survive.
NWS Spokane shared the advisory as the cold air moved in for the new week.
A Multi-Day Cold Stretch
This is the second straight frost advisory for parts of the region this weekend, following a similar advisory issued for Saturday night into Sunday morning.
NWS Spokane says near-freezing mornings are likely to continue through early this week across the valleys and basins.
Safety Reminders
Gardeners and growers are urged to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold, such as covering vegetation or bringing potted plants indoors.
Anyone with outdoor plans overnight should dress in layers and be ready for temperatures near freezing during the early morning hours.
