Porsche’s Sonderwunsch division usually spends its days on dead-serious commissions: Le Mans liveries, refinished Carrera GTs, the kind of six-figure bespoke work that makes collectors weak in the knees. So watching it paint a 911 to look like Buzz Lightyear is certainly a bit of a different approach.
Ahead of Toy Story 5 landing in theaters on June 19, Porsche revealed three one-off 911s built in the likeness of Woody, Buzz, and Jessie. The trio makes its public debut tonight on the red carpet in Los Angeles. Of course, this isn’t Porsche and Pixar’s first dance, the two having teamed up on the Sally Special inspired by Cars. The best part? None of these are going to a configurator. All three are headed to charity.
Article Overview

Of course the spaceman gets the GT3 RS. Porsche started with the 992.1 GT3 RS in full Weissach Package trim, magnesium wheels and all, then draped Buzz’s white, green, and purple suit over 518 horsepower of naturally aspirated flat-six.

What’s really rad about the build is that none of it is vinyl. Every stripe, every Space Ranger badge, even the candy-cane treatment on that enormous rear wing, is painted on by hand, reportedly to the tune of hundreds of hours in the booth. The Goodyear tires are molded to read “Lightyear,” the hood louvres mimic the buttons on Buzz’s chest, and the door sills glow with “To Infinity and Beyond.” It is absolutely ridiculous, and we love it.

Jessie’s open-top energy made the 532-horsepower Targa 4 GTS an easy call, with its red Targa top standing in for her cowgirl hat. The body wears a new pearl-flecked finish called Jessie White Metallic (a nod to the pearl snaps on her shirt), accented by 944 Cobalt Blue, Atacama Yellow, and GTS Red pinstriping.

That pinstriping, by the way, is also painted, not taped on. Porsche even swapped the “Targa” script for “Jessie” in its own model-designation font, tossed in cowhide floor mats, and lit up the sills with “YEE HAW!” There’s also a small horse emblem riffing on Bullseye for anyone paying close attention.

Woody draws the 911 Carrera T, the enthusiast’s pick of the family thanks to its 388-horsepower flat-six and a true six-speed manual. The real showstopper, though, is the paint.

To capture Woody’s broken-in denim, Porsche layered Dark Sea Blue, Golf Blue, and white, then pressed actual denim into the still-wet finish to leave behind real texture and depth. A vinyl wrap would have cost a fraction as much, which is exactly why we appreciate what Porsche did so much here. Inside, there’s vintage-look brown leather built to seem worn from day one, Speed Yellow checkered inlays lifted from his shirt, and “Ride Like the Wind!” on the sills.
