Search for “2027 Lexus RX” right now, and you’ll find spy photos of a camouflaged prototype near the Nurburgring, reports of a mid-cycle refresh coming later this year, and plenty of guessing about a three-row RX L. What you won’t find is anything from Lexus itself. The automaker’s newsroom page for 2027 models lists one vehicle so far, the electric TZ. The RX isn’t on it. Or at least not yet.

Recent reports suggest a 2027 RX facelift is in the works, with a reveal expected later in 2026 and sales to follow in early 2027. None of that is official yet, and until Lexus says otherwise, the current RX on dealer lots is still likely the best bet for buyers in terms of affordability. In other words, the 2027 refresh might also come with an increase in the sticker price.

Overall, the RX remains one of the most popular Lexus models, owing its success to key metrics such as lower long-term ownership costs. While the 2027 model will likely have the same reputation for reliability, buyers looking at an RX now can get the best of both worlds: reliability at a lower cost than when the 2027 model arrives.

What’s new for 2026

Starting MSRP by trim family

The 2026 RX is available in seven trim levels: Standard, Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Handling, F SPORT Performance, and F SPORT Design. Lexus made a few specific tweaks to the 2026 RX lineup, including:

  • Premium trim level for the RX 450h+.
  • Wireless phone charging now comes standard.
  • F SPORT Handling and F SPORT Performance can now add the Appearance Package.

The Appearance Package was built around the 2025 Black Line Special Edition. It pairs five exterior colors (Ultra White, Cloudburst Gray, Iridium, Incognito, and Caviar) with black exterior trim, 21-inch split-five-spoke wheels finished in black, and orange brake calipers. Inside, the black cabin receives gray stitching throughout.

Starting MSRP for the 2026 Lexus RX is as follows:

  • Gas (RX 350): $52,775.
  • Hybrid (RX 350h): $55,075.
  • F Sport (RX 350 F SPORT Design): $57,280.
  • Plug-in Hybrid (RX 450h+): $66,780.

Those who don’t want to go brand-new can find gently used RX models for less than the starting MSRP of a new Toyota RAV4. One platform, four ways to drive it

RX 450h+ offers over 35 miles of all-electric range

Every 2026 RX rides on the Lexus GA-K platform, which uses high-strength steel at the side rockers, roof, and B-pillars to keep the center of gravity low. Where the lineup splits is under the hood.

The RX 350 has a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder rated at 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft. of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. It’s the standard gas engine for the RX lineup, and the one to pick if a lower sticker price matters more than fuel economy.

The RX 350h pairs a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine with a nickel-metal hydride battery for 246 total system horsepower and 233 lb-ft. of torque. It gives up some power compared to the RX 350, but the trade-off shows up at the pump versus the highway on-ramp.

The RX 500h F SPORT Performance adds a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine and an 80-kW rear eAxle for 366 total system horsepower and 406 lb-ft. of torque, sent through a DIRECT4 all-wheel drive system. It’s the strongest powertrain Lexus offers on the RX, built for buyers who want hybrid efficiency without giving up power.

The RX 450h+ swaps in a high-capacity lithium-ion battery for plug-in hybrid duty, with 38 miles of range on electric power alone. Every 450h+ comes standard with a dual-voltage charging cable for 120V and 240V outlets. The standard 6.6-kW onboard charger can deliver a full charge in about two and a half hours on a 240V circuit.

Here is a look at the EPA-estimated fuel economy across the 2026 Lexus RX lineup:

  • RX 350 FWD: EPA-estimated 22 city, 29 highway, 25 combined.
  • RX 350 AWD: EPA-estimated 21 city, 28 highway, 24 combined.
  • RX 500h AWD: EPA-estimated 27 city, 28 highway, 27 combined.
  • RX 350h AWD: EPA-estimated 37 city, 34 highway, 36 combined.
  • RX 450h+ AWD: EPA-estimated 35 combined MPGe, plus 38 miles of EV-only range

The RX 350h costs $2,300 more than the base RX 350 but raises combined fuel economy from 25 miles per gallon to 36. The RX 450h+ costs the most to get into, but it’s the only version that can run on electric power alone for the length of an average, low-demand commute.

Getting inside the tech-filled cabin

Colors, finishes, and personalized lighting

Six interior colors are available across the 2026 Lexus RX lineup, including Macadamia, Black, Birch, Palomino, Peppercorn, and Rioja Red. Those six are paired with four finishes ranging from Ash Bamboo to Dark Graphite Aluminum. Ambient lighting adds more customization options, with 64 colors spread across 14 themes.

A 12.3-inch multi-information display comes standard, but touchscreen size depends on trim level. For example, a 9.8-inch display comes standard, but a 14-inch display is available as an upgrade. Wireless phone charging is standard across the board, and six USB ports are spread throughout the cabin, including two USB-C outlets for rear passengers.

Available options include a heads-up display, a 21-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, and Advanced Park with Remote Park, which lets drivers maneuver into tight spaces via the Lexus app. The F SPORT Handling and F SPORT Performance get their own steering wheel and gauge cluster, along with aluminum-trimmed pedals and seats bolstered for cornering.

The 2027 refresh and the RX L

Camouflage on the prototype, caught during testing, was limited to the front end, suggesting a facelift rather than a full redesign. Whether a three-row RX L comes with it is still speculation, sourced more from enthusiast CGI artists than from Lexus itself. Until the automaker says otherwise, the 2026 RX is what we have from Lexus today.

The 2026 Lexus RX has a four-year, 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, a six-year, 70,000-mile powertrain warranty, and six years of corrosion protection (unlimited mileage). The hybrid battery carries a 10-year, 150,000-mile warranty of its own.
