The Baseus Sleep SK1 is a flat bar that slides under your pillow and plays through it, and Baseus built it to keep the sound at your ear instead of filling the bedroom. It is built for anyone who falls asleep to a podcast or rain sounds while somebody in the same bed wants quiet, and it replaces the wireless earbud digging into your ear at 2 AM.

Instead of a conventional driver pushing air, the SK1 uses what Baseus calls micro-vibration conduction. Two symmetrical vibrator units send the sound into the pillow itself, and the pillow carries it the last few inches to your ear. You have to stay close to the pillow to hear it clearly, and that limit is the feature: Baseus says the sound falls off before it reaches the other side of the bed.

Price: ¥184 in China (reported, about $26)

The pillow does the work a speaker cone usually does

Baseus built the effect to be directional, not loud. Press your head into the pillow and the audio is there; lift your head and it fades. Alarms ride the same path, so a 6 AM wake-up call is aimed at one side of the bed. Baseus’s own guidance caps the trick at pillows up to about 8 cm thick, roughly 3 inches; with a thicker pillow, or sleeping on your back, its own note says you can turn the volume up as you prefer.

The SK1 measures 16.5 by 4.5 by 1.4 cm and weighs 44 g, light enough to forget once it is under the pillow. The shell uses a fire-retardant material with a matte, skin-friendly coating that resists fingerprints, and the flat shape avoids the ear pressure you get from rolling over onto an earbud.

One round end carries a digital display showing the time, the active mode and the remaining battery, with physical buttons beside it. Bluetooth handles the phone connection.

White noise, alarms and the companion app

The companion app holds more than 100 white-noise tracks: rain, campfire, ocean waves, birdsong, meditation music and ASMR among them.

The app also takes up to 10 alarms on separate schedules, and each alarm travels through the pillow like everything else.

Battery and charging

Inside is a 300 mAh battery, and Baseus claims more than 10 hours of playback on a charge, enough for a full night with room to spare. Charging runs over USB-C, and a full charge is reported at about two hours.

Price and availability

The SK1 is listed in China on JD.com at ¥184, reported at about $26, with a regional subsidy price as low as ¥173.18 in parts of the country. No exact US or Amazon listing turned up in our checks.

If you want this idea from a US store today, a relevant US-listed alternative is the Jabees PEACE Duo, a bone-conduction under-pillow speaker built on the same one-listener idea, at $54.99 on Amazon. The Duo splits its sound across two drivers for stereo, snaps shut magnetically, and carries four hours of pre-loaded sleep sounds, so it can play with no phone involved at all.

Who should buy it

Buy the SK1 if you share a bed, fall asleep to audio, and hate sleeping in earbuds. At ¥184 in its home market, about $26, it is cheap enough to test the idea, and it is aimed at the two real complaints about sleep audio: ear pain from sleeping in earbuds, and a partner kept up by your podcast. Skip it if your pillow is thick memory foam or you want sound that fills a room; the PEACE Duo is a localized under-pillow device too, and Jabees’s own FAQ warns that dense pillows cut its volume. What the PEACE Duo does cover is the US store: it’s on Amazon today at $54.99, just over twice the SK1’s reported China price.

The SK1 is a small, single-purpose gadget that does exactly one job and stops there.
