If you bought a NEWDERY power bank on Amazon, turn it over and check the model number before plugging it in again. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 21,380 units of model ZHX-PB22 because the lithium-ion battery can explode or catch fire. The affected power bank is black, has yellow cables, NEWDERY engraved on the front, and ZHX-PB22 printed on the back.
The September 24 recall follows nine reports of the power banks exploding or igniting. One person suffered a burn injury. One fire caused about $2 million in property damage, according to the CPSC recall notice. The affected units were sold on Amazon from October 2023 through November 2024 for $27 to $50.
What to do if yours is affected
Stop using it immediately. Contact NEWDERY for instructions to receive a full refund before marking or disposing of the power bank. The CPSC says you’ll need to send a photo showing the model and serial numbers, plus the word “recalled” and your last name written on the power bank in permanent marker. You’ll also have to confirm that it was disposed of in accordance with local rules before receiving the refund. Do not put this power bank in household trash, curbside recycling, or a battery drop box at a store. A recalled lithium-ion battery needs different handling because of the fire risk. Call your local household hazardous waste collection center before taking it there and ask whether it accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries. If it doesn’t, ask your municipality where to take it. This model has been on the CPSC’s radar for more than a year. The agency warned people to stop using it in June 2025. There wasn’t a recall at that point. Now there’s a formal recall with a full-refund process. Follow the current CPSC notice for the steps.

The MagFlow Air combines Qi2 magnetic charging with a built-in USB-C cable. It’s a simpler carry than the 20,000mAh Nexode if your main concern is topping up a phone. The 10,000mAh capacity means it gives up some reserve for that smaller size.

Anker MagGo 2 Pro 10,000mAh: for faster magnetic charging
The MagGo 2 Pro is the magnetic option for someone who wants the higher 25W Qi2.2 charging specification and a 45W USB-C port. Its built-in cooling fan is another design distinction. At $109.99, it’s the priciest phone-sized option here; check your phone’s charging compatibility before paying for the extra speed.
