Frost Advisories are in effect early Sunday for southwest Washington and the South Sound foothills, with temperatures as low as 33 to 36 degrees.
The National Weather Service offices in Seattle and Portland issued the advisories Friday. Both start at midnight Saturday night.
Pierce, King, Thurston and Lewis Counties
NWS Seattle’s advisory runs from midnight Saturday night to 8 a.m. PDT Sunday.
Temperatures as low as 34 to 36 degrees will result in frost.
It covers the foothills and valleys of Pierce and southern King counties, the foothills and valleys of Thurston and Lewis counties, and the Middle Chehalis River Valley.
Cities include Enumclaw, Maple Valley, Covington, South Hill, Lea Hill, Elk Plain, Morton, Mossyrock, McCleary, Montesano and Elma.
Clark County and the South Washington Cascade Foothills
NWS Portland’s advisory runs from midnight Saturday night to 9 a.m. PDT Sunday.
Lows of 33 to 36 degrees are expected in the North Clark County lowlands and the South Washington Cascade foothills.
Cities include Battle Ground, Ridgefield, La Center, Yacolt, Brush Prairie, Hockinson, Amboy, Lake Merwin and Toutle.
Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Plants left uncovered may be killed.
Weekend Cooldown
A low-pressure system will cool temperatures sharply this weekend. NWS Portland, which covers southwest Washington, says to expect clouds, light rain and frost potential.

Western Washington has also seen patchy morning fog, which NWS Seattle says can reduce visibility.
Safety Reminders
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
Move potted plants indoors, or cover sensitive plants with lightweight cotton fabric such as bedsheets or thin blankets.
