Some sneakers get designed around a feeling. The Air Jordan 15 got designed around a hypersonic research aircraft. The Black Pack edition, style code IZ2585-001, is on sale today, November 7, at select Jordan Brand NBHD retailers and through Jordan Brand’s 232323232323.com. Retail is $245.
The jet comes first
Tinker Hatfield built the original Air Jordan 15 in 1999, right after Michael Jordan’s second retirement, and he built it from the X-15, the rocket-powered test plane that still holds the speed record for a crewed, powered aircraft. The transfer is literal, not decorative. The 15’s long, protruding tongue copies the profile of the X-15 and the oxygen mask its pilot wore.

The swept, angular lines running down the shoe are the jet’s fuselage translated into footwear, and the sculpted heel counter carries the same sharp geometry. Underfoot, Zoom Air cushioning does the performance work. No Jordan silhouette divides opinion like this one, and that is the point of it.
The 15 was never trying to look like a basketball shoe. It was trying to look like the fastest machine on the planet in 1967.

The last chapter of the Black Pack
The Black Pack is a four-shoe set built on one rule: take Jordan Brand’s post-Bulls retro models, dress them in black, and give each one an animal texture. The Air Jordan 14 Low and the Air Jordan 16 opened the pack in October and sold out at boutiques. Today closes it.
The Air Jordan 17 Low lands alongside this shoe with stingray texture on its lace panel, and the 15 answers with snakeskin. Same brief, four executions, and the 15’s entry is the loudest silhouette of the group wearing the quietest color.

What changed on this pair
The original 15 wore a woven Kevlar panel across its midfoot, one of the most recognizable materials in the Jordan line. The Black Pack version removes it. In its place sits a diamond-print snakeskin panel in grey and black, running from soft black nubuck at the base of the upper up into the black lace panel.

Black leather covers most of the rest of the shoe, a textured strip runs down the toe, and horizontal striping textures the heel. The SP designation, Special Projects, shows up in the extras: the pair ships with special packaging that includes a branded tote bag and a travel case.
The recipe is texture over color from top to bottom. In a pack built to be looked at closely, the 15 rewards it most.

The take
At $245, this is a collector’s shoe, priced like one and distributed like one. Boutique-only availability means the SNKRS app is not saving you today; your local NBHD account and the 232323232323.com storefront are the whole game.
Buy it because the X-15 story is the single best design brief in the Jordan line and the snakeskin panel is the first material change in years that sharpens the silhouette instead of softening it. Skip it if you need a daily wearer, because a blacked-out, texture-led 15 shows every scuff and asks to be kept clean. The divisive one just got its definitive edition.
