Dry indoor air is the least fun part of fall, and Donguri Kyowakoku has the cutest fix for it back in stock. Donguri Kyowakoku is Studio Ghibli’s official shop in Japan, and its Little Humidifiers have returned for the season in three designs: Totoro from My Neighbor Totoro, Calcifer from Howl’s Moving Castle, and Jiji from Kiki’s Delivery Service. Each one is a small USB humidifier wearing a tiny scene from its film, and each one costs $33.
This is the fourth straight fall the humidifiers have come back. The set first launched in December 2022, then returned in 2023, 2024, and 2025, which says plenty about how well a bottle of mist in a Ghibli costume lands with fans. The first run carried a fourth design, the Otori-sama bathers from Spirited Away, and this year’s restock leaves them out. The three survivors are the strongest of the set anyway.
Totoro plays the ocarina, and the mist comes out
Big Totoro sits on a tree stump on top of the bottle, playing his ocarina, and the mist streams straight out of the instrument like he’s really blowing into it. A small Totoro stands at his feet holding a flower, and a few Soot Sprites hide in the log if you look close. At 8.7 inches tall, this is the design that reads best across a room, and it’s the one to get if your desk needs a centerpiece more than it needs subtlety.

Calcifer’s breakfast steams the way it should
Calcifer was always the obvious pick for a humidifier. The fire demon sits under his frying pan loaded with bacon and eggs, and the mist rises off the food like steam from a hot skillet, so the best cooking scene in Howl’s Moving Castle keeps cooking on your desk. He’s the shortest of the three at 7.4 inches, and the orange flame body against the clear bottle makes him the loudest piece of decor in the lineup. Subtle was never his thing in the film either.

Jiji gets a breakfast spread and a steaming mug
Jiji sits on a little table covered with a yellow cloth, next to a stack of pancakes and a red mug printed with his own face. The mist comes out of the mug, so it looks like someone poured fresh coffee a second ago. At 8.9 inches he’s the tallest of the three by a hair, and the tabletop scene gives him the most going on per inch. If your mornings run on coffee and a cat judging you, this is your design.

One bottle, one cable, eight hours of mist
All three designs share the same hardware. Fill the bottle, plug in the included USB cable, and a full tank runs about eight hours before the power shuts off on its own. There’s no wall adapter in the box, so the cable goes into a laptop port or whatever adapter you already own. Benelic also notes that the mist can pause for a few minutes mid-run and then start again on its own. That’s the design working, not a defect, so leave the switch alone and let it come back.
| Design | Height | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Ocarina-Playing Totoro | 8.7 in | 6.3 oz |
| Calcifer’s Bacon and Eggs | 7.4 in | 5.6 oz |
| Jiji and Breakfast | 8.9 in | 6.5 oz |

Each bottle carries a printed logo from its film, down to the little paw prints on Jiji’s. Every unit weighs about as much as a phone, so moving one from desk to nightstand takes one hand, and the footprint on the desk is roughly three inches across. These are nightstand and study-desk machines, sized for the corner you’re already sitting in.

Buying one from the US takes one extra step
Donguri Kyowakoku sells these in Japan, and the store doesn’t ship overseas, so US buyers order through a proxy or forwarding service that provides a Japanese address. Donguri Republic opened its first American pop-up store in Los Angeles this year, which is a good sign for the brand’s US plans, but the humidifiers themselves are listed through the Japanese store. One warning worth the space: Amazon carries Totoro humidifiers that aren’t these. Official Benelic designs sell through Donguri Kyowakoku, and the lookalikes are different products.
Pick by film, not by specs, because the hardware under all three is identical. What you’re choosing is which tiny scene you want steaming away next to your laptop until spring. At $33, with seasonal stock that has sold through before, the Calcifer is the strongest pick of the three. A fire demon who makes actual steam is the joke and the function in one piece.
