Citizen Revived Its Sold-Out Time Slip Dial on the Bezel-Equipped Tsuyosa Shore

Ask around for an automatic under $500 and the Citizen Tsuyosa will inevitably surface within about three replies. It has held that spot since 2022, and Citizen has spent the years since quietly patching the handful of complaints people actually had, most recently back in February with the bezel-equipped Tsuyosa Shore.

Now the brand is reaching into its own greatest hits bin. Last summer’s smoked-dial “Time Slip” treatment has been grafted onto the Shore case as the Citizen Tsuyosa Shore Limited Edition, reference NJ0238-57E.

The original Time Slip was a 37mm limited run from July 2025, and it was predicated entirely on aesthetics. There was no spec upgrade, and no movement bump. It was just a gradient dial that fans clamored for.

Citizen isn’t being coy about the repeat, either. The brand’s own copy pitches this one as a journey back in time, which is roughly what it said twelve months ago.

The dial is a smoked black gradient over a finely grained texture, fading from charcoal at the center out to near-black at the rim. Applied hour markers and hands come in gold tone with lume packed in, so legibility survives the “vintage” updates.

But the real upgrade over the 37mm original is the bezel, which the standard Tsuyosa doesn’t have at all. Citizen ran the gold treatment out onto the unidirectional 120-click bezel’s 60-minute scale.

Behind that dial, nothing has changed. You get the automatic Caliber 8210 beating at 21,600 vph with 42 hours of reserve, hacking seconds, and a display caseback.

Citizen rates it at -20/+40 seconds per day, which is a wide window on a watch flirting with $500. For context, a Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 runs closer to $650 and gives you 80 hours of reserve. The Citizen counters with 100m of water resistance and a functioning timing bezel, so pick your priority.

The Tsuyosa Shore Limited Edition lands stateside in August with a projected price of $462.50, putting it dead center in the standard Shore range.
